For our first project in my public speaking class i shared chapter 13 with another group member who's not in the group anymore, and based my three slides on the remaining topic in this particular chapter. During the structure of our slides for that chapter me and my partner focused on the key points of informative speech, the main goals to keep in mind when delivering this type of speech to your audience. I personally think i created my slides way better than i presented them and honestly believe its due to the fact that i was pretty nervous to present. Although i was confident in the general structure of my slides and information i added, i do look back at it and regret not studying and practicing them enough and feel like i let the slides guide me more than i led my audience through my slides. Part of my nervousness came from unironically feeling more awkward and embarrassed presenting over zoom rather than in person. I guess I tend to overthink more on zoom because of thoughts like what if no one is listening and im just completely boring them or what if i look anxious on camera etc. Presenting in person i think just forces a person to be confident and break that anxiety and encourages me to engage with my audience and give the best presentation i can. Don't get me wrong, I get super nervous actually being face to face with an audience especially since i didnt really do these types of presentations or present at all in high school for example, but not only is it a different type pf nervousness but like i previously said, in person just forces a person to be confident and do their best. Next time things I would mainly change are, preparing and practicing for my future projects that include delivering a speech so i don't have to consistently reading off all my slides the entire speech making it a longer and robotic process.

As far as the other groups i think they did very well and im going to start with one of my favorites which is group one that included the members Christian Germain, Federico Devers, Angie Gonzalez, Emmanuela Nestan Delva, Fabiana Gonzalez, Fabienne Benjamin and Allan Lira Salazar. Eacj pf them were really organized and clear throughout their whole presentations but what stood out to me the most was how this group works together and supports one another. Federico, for example, couldn't keep presenting because he wasn't feeling good that day but Christian immediately stepped in and helped him finish his slide and get his grade. He ended his summary and even presented that was included on that slide. It was really admirable too see and how lucky they are to have each other as reliable partners.

Next was Group 2 which included Isabel Maestre, Jazmin Sierra, Giselle Schneider, Jancarlos Hernandez, Jade Marquez, Glensys Martienez, and Isabella Clavelo. Overall, i think they're presentation was decent, it did feel like it was heavily individually worked on rather than as a team. Visuals felt lacked and we were missing some more pictures graphs or chart just for the appeal and to make it feel more alive. It also felt as if it was slightly rushed and crammed and i wish they could've added just some more emphasis on their points making it central to the general idea. Besides that, I think they did a great job at keeping the focus on the main topic and made some key points making it very comprehendible and for the most part every member had an idea of what they were going to present.

Group 3 had chapters 9, 10,11, and 12. Those chapters talked about beginning and ending your speech, using language effectively, integrating presentation media, and delivering your speech. Group 3 members included Jielianne Rodriguez, Kristine Gomez, Jeanpaul Figueroa, Jonathan Ruiz, Julia Bojorquez, and Jasmine Peraldo. I think group three easily had the most intriguing topics and presentation that were able to hold the attention of the audience. I must say, this one truly appealed to me especially since I really enjoyed the slight psychology these chapters put in there. It was interesting hearing each presenter's thoughts on primary and recency effects. I was drawn in by it and fascinated by the specifics of how memory works. I was able to take in a lot of information from each speakers presentation and the key conclusion that stook out to me the most is that we typically remember the information that is initially presented to and communicated to us. Additionally, we remember the most recent or conclusive facts that we have seen or heard, according to the recency effect. Group 3 proved to be proficient at putting this idea into practice. Another topic of conversation in the group was language. English wasn’t my first language and its something I had struggled with a lot in grade school and it took a lot to get better at so the comprehension of language and culture that these topics spoke about made it very intriguing and important to me.

Although my groups topics throughout the chapters werent the most interesting, i think we did a great job teaching the class about the importance of different speech forms. I feel like it couldve been impactful to some people considering theres still many college students who may know the differences of an informative and argumentative speech but still have a lot of difficulty writing these essays or presenting these speeches because they dont exactly know how to actually show they're aware to this knowledge. We gave straight forward key points and tips on persuading others if persuasive presentations were needed. My group also discussed the three categories of persuasive communication. I believe as a group, we widely disseminated information regarding the distinctions between informed and persuasive communication. Group Four also provided knowledge that allowed us to stay within the parameters of persuasive communication. It's important to recognize your audience and make sure you're not forcing or controlling them when trying to persuade or convince someone.

In conclusion, giving and viewing my classmates powerpoint presentations was an interesting experience. It clarified the many approaches to public speaking and the infinite benefits and greatness that comes with it. Using the knowledge that my group and others have shared inspires me to further refine my skills. Public speaking is more than just a college subject or requirement because ive now learned that it requires a dynamic interaction of preparation, delivery, and audience involvement when one is speaking in front of an audience.
